Remsen- Douglas S. McDonald, 54, passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family, at St. Lukes Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. Doug was born in Lowville, on June 25, 1964, a son of Merwin C. and Ruth Wynn McDonald. He grew up in Lyons Falls and attended Lyons Falls Elementary School, later graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1982. Thereafter Doug furthered his education in the electrician trade. For nearly thirty years, until the present time, Doug was employed as an electrician in heavy commercial construction for IBEW Local out of Syracuse, NY. He was an excellent electrician whose electrical talents and skills were well noted by his co-workers, family and friends. Doug was an outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed all aspects of hunting, fishing and spending time at the family hunting camp. He will be fondly remembered as being a person who deeply loved his family and animals, especially his dog, Boomer, who was his best buddy. He was a hardworking and generous person with his time and talents; a dear friend to many, who will be greatly missed. In addition to his father, Merwin C. McDonald, Lyons Falls, Doug is survived by his siblings and their spouses; John and Katherine McDonald, Lyons Falls, Michele McDonald Wiggins, Burke, NY, Rob and Cindy McDonald Wendt, Constableville, Lorri McDonald Randall, Constableville, Jim McDonald, Lyons Falls, and Tim McDonald, Turin. He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth W. McDonald, on September 14, 2017, by his brother, David W. McDonald, on August 21, 1971, and by a nephew, Scott R. Wendt, on June 20, 1997. Also surviving are three nephews, Mark, Cody and Tyler McDonald and five nieces, Michele Wendt Milavec, (husband Luke), Lisa Wendt Carandang, (husband Francis), Jennifer McDonald Slack, (husband, Andy), Beth Wiggins, Ruthanne Randall and four great nieces, Madison McDonald, Annika Milavec, Addison and Eden Carandang. In keeping with Dougs wishes, there will be a private family memorial service, held at the convenience of the family.
