Forestport-Dorothy (Williams) Mooney, 85, of Woodhull Road, widow of Francis C. Mooney, passed away at the home of her daughter and son in law; Patricia and Donald Evans, Egypt Road, Alder Creek, on Monday, March 27, 2006. For many years beginning in 1976, Mrs. Mooney was the president and librarian of the Forestport Library, which was located in the Forestport Town Hall. Dorothy was born in the Town Of Altmar (Oswego Co.) on September 8, 1920, a daughter of Prince A. (Albert) and Myrtle Bishop Williams. She grew up in Boonville attending a rural school, and then Boonville High School. On May 8, 1938, Dorothy was united in marriage with Francis C. Mooney in Alder Creek. After their marriage the couple settled in Highmarket, later moving to Alder Creek, where they lived until moving to their present home on Woodhull Road in 1959. Mr. Mooney died on December 18, 1982. She was a member of the former Christ Episcopal Church of Forestport, Trinity Episcopal Church of Boonville, and the Up and Go Senior Citizens of Forestport. In addition to her position of Forestport Town Librarian, Mrs. Mooney also had served as a Girl Scout leader, and on the Forestport Election Board. Her survivors include two daughters; Mrs. Audrey Gifford, Richmond, Va., Patricia and husband, Donald Evans, Alder Creek, by three daughters in law; Jean Mooney, Patricia Mooney, Kathleen Mooney Schmelzle, all of Forestport, sixteen grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her four sons; Roland Mooney, on February 1, 1991, Dennis A. Mooney, on April 18, 1998, Maynard F. Mooney on December 31, 1998, and Frank A. Mooney on July 26, 1999, a grandson; Steven Mooney in 1981, and two great grandchildren; Kali Poulton and Francis Humble. Also surviving are four sisters in law; Almeda Szewczyk, Lyons Dale, Delia Mooney, Ann Mooney, both of Boonville, Irene Fitzgerald, Port Leyden, and Mary Mooney, Croghan. Her Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 10:30 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Fr. Donald H. Karlen, a long time, and dear friend of Dorothy, and pastor of St. Josephï¿(TM)s Church of Boonville, and St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church of Forestport will officiate. Interment will follow in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Forestport Fire Dept. or to Boonville Fire Dept.
