Boonville- Dorothy Pearl "Dottie" (Young) Johnson, 83, of 115 South St., passed away on Friday, February 11, 2022, while surrounded by the loving care of her family, at Bethany Gardens of Rome, NY. Affectionately known as Dottie, she was born in Canton, NY on November 23, 1938, a daughter of James and Arena Halladay Young. Most of her life was spent in Boonville, where she received her education. Later she attended beauty culture school, receiving her Beautician's License. For many years she operated Dottie's New Ideas Beauty Salon, Eagle Bay, NY. She was married to Ralph Frederick Young and Ronald Johnson and both marriages ended in divorce. While residing in Kortenaer Village, Boonville, Dottie was president of the recreation committee. She enjoyed sewing, painting and crafts and singing with her sister. She will be fondly remembered for her talents in constructing ornamental wooden fireplaces. She possessed by sharp sense of humor and enjoyed giving and receiving jokes. While residing in Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, Dottie designed and painted a picture a Chickadee (bird) which is hanging inside the therapy room. Dottie is survived by her children; Darlene Mineo (John), Rome, Kenny Young,(Cheryl), Talcottville, Arena Young-Beaver, Rome. She was predeceased by a son, Owen R. "Ralph" Young, on August 16, 2019. Also surviving are sisters, Betty Sturtevant, West Leyden, Melanie Brewer, Newport, Mary Carpenter, Tennessee and many many grand and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Donna Scheve and by a brother, Eugene Young. In keeping with Dottie's wishes there will be no calling hours, with a celebration of her life at a later date.
