Forestport, NY & Hobe Sound, FL – Dorothy M. Philipchik, wife of Robert A., former longtime resident of Morrisville, NY, passed away on June 4, 2024, the day after she celebrated her 90th birthday, following complications of a long illness.
Affectionately known as Dot, she was born on June 3, 1934 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of Harry and Hilda Matthews. She received her education at Hartford Public High School, graduating with the class of 1952. Thereafter she began work at Connecticut Bank & Trust.
On August 13, 1955, Dorothy was united in marriage with Robert A. Philipchik in Hartford, CT. In 1964 the couple relocated to Morrisville, NY, where Dot was employed as a teacher’s aide in kindergarten classrooms at Morrisville-Eaton Central School. She enjoyed the family camp at Bear Creek Lodge, Forestport, NY, spending winters in Hobe Sound, FL, but above all, cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
Besides her husband of nearly 69 years, Robert, she is survived by her daughter Nancy (Dan) Chilluffo, son Robert P. Philipchik, and daughter Susan (Tom) Althoff, grandchildren: Andy Hurteau, Alex Philipchik, Drew (Jen) Philipchik, Tommy Althoff, Tyler Althoff, and great-grandchildren: Leah and Wyatt Philipchik.
