Dorothy L. Andrews

Dorothy L. (Capron) Andrews, 88, widow of Homer, a long time resident of Erwin St., passed away at her residence on Monday, January 15, 2007, after a long illness. A native and life long resident of Boonville, she was born on July 18, 1918, a daughter of George and Lillian Cummings Capron. She graduated from Boonville High School with the Class of 1936. For over forty years, Mrs. Andrews was employed as a clerk at Lena Scheidlemanï¿(TM)s Trading Post which was located on Summit St. in Boonville. For a time after Mrs. Scheidleman retired, Dorothy operated the business until it was sold after Mrs. Scheidleman died in September, 1975. On February 20, 1937, Dorothy was united in marriage with Homer C. Andrews in Remsen. For many years the couple greatly enjoyed traveling to California to visit their son, Edward, and tour California with him. Mr. Andrews died on January 26, 2004. She was a member of Boonville United Methodist Church, and Mappa-Salma Chapter Order O.E.S., and the Young at Heart Senior Citizens. Dorothy was predeceased by one son, Edward G. Andrews, on December 4, 1990, and by a brother, Robert Capron, on December 25, 1983. She is survived by two nieces: Charolotte and Chan Willoughby, Boonville, Dianne and Ben Daskiewich, and one nephew; George W. and Laurie Capron, all of Boonville, Her family wishes to express their sincere, heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the kind, compassionate and loving care rendered to Dorothy from Patricia Swiernick, Diane Greene, and from her special friend, Kenneth Clark. Because of these three friends kindness over the years, Dorothy was able to fulfill her wish to live in her home until she passed away. Her Funeral Service will be Thursday at 2:00 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. William A. Mudge, Pastor of Boonville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309.
