Boonville - Dorla D. Ludwig, 84, widow of Arthur H. Ludwig and a former resident of Old Forge, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, after a short illness. Dorla was born in Cortland, on July 16, 1936, a daughter of Harold and Lorena Reynolds Dillenbeck. She grew up in Sempronius, NY, in Cayuga County graduating from Moravia High School, with the Class of 1953, and from The Auburn Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with a registered Nurse Degree, with the Class of 1957. For twenty years Mrs. Ludwig was employed as a Registered Nurse, in the Emergency Room at Cortland Memorial Hospital. On April 27, 1962, Dorla was united in marriage with Arthur H. Ludwig, in Cortland. In 1981, the couple moved from Cortland to Old Forge, where they lived on Upper Joy Tract Road for several years. While living in Old Forge, Mrs. Ludwig was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Town of Webb Medical Center and also as a ticket seller at McCauley Mountain Ski Area. In 1989, the couple relocated to Boonville, where Mrs. Ludwig was employed as a night nursing supervisor for several years at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mr. Ludwig, who was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII and a retired Police Officer of the Cortland City Police Department and later was employed at Foley Lumber Co. Old Forge and a former caretaker for Adirondack League Club, Bisby Lodge, passed away on May 27, 2020. Mrs. Ludwig was a member of First Baptist Church, Boonville. Dorla is survived by a sister, Arla (Kenneth) Mills, Monroe, NC and nieces; Carla Longden (and Grant Hopson), Diane (William) Albritton. Dorla was predeceased by a neice, Debra Roller and is survived by her husband, Christopher Roller and also by her step son, David J. (Susie) Ludwig, New Bloomfield, PA. Dorla's family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility for the care and compassion which they gave to Dorla and also to her husband Arthur for many years while he resided at Sunset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Thursday, May 20, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at Boonville Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 325 Post Street, Boonville, NY 13309. Arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, NY.
