~~Greig - Doris Y. Kogut, 81, of Fish Creek Road, widow of Joseph, affectionately known as Bonnie, passed away on Friday June 30, 2017 at St. Lukes Memorial Hospital, New Hartford following a brief illness. Doris was born on July 19, 1935 in Lowville, a daughter of David and Helen Graves Jones. She was raised in Greig on the Jones Road, graduating from General Martin High School with the Class of 1954. Following her education she was employed for a time at Utica Cutlery, before working alongside her mother and grandmother as a cook at logging camps in Raquette Lake. Doris was united in marriage with Joseph Kogut on May 26, 1962 at St. Marys Church, Glenfield. The couple settled in Greig before moving to the Kotary Road, Constableville, where together they operated a dairy farm. They retired in 1987 to a home they built in Greig. Mr. Kogut, a US Army veteran of WWII passed away on May 8, 1990. Following her retirement, Bonnie enjoyed the simple things in life, whether that was rocking on her front porch in the sun, going for a ride on the back country roads, or the cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life she devoted herself to giving back to her neighbors and community, Ma Koguts door was always open to everyone. She is survived by her son, Paul (Ann) Kogut and their children Joshua and Joseph, Yakima, WA, her daughter, Dawn (Richard) Emerson and their children Keith, Mitchell, Audrey, and Damon, and her daughter, Vicky (Roy) Aden and their children Steven and Jessica, all of Lyons Falls; her sister Bernice Mihalyi, Glenfield, sisters-in-law Geraldine Jones, Lyons Falls and Jean Mooney, Boonville, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Joseph, she was predeceased by a grandson Jacob Kogut, and her brothers Donald, David, and Robert Jones, and sisters Jean Markham, Phyllis Youngs and Beatrice Fowler. Funeral services will begin with a 12:00 Noon prayer service on Wednesday, July 5, at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm at St. Marys Church, Glenfield, with Rev. Christopher Carrara, pastor officiating. Interment will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery, Constableville. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 12:00 Noon at the funeral home.
