Doris M. Bourgeois

June 30, 1925 — August 3, 2009

Boonville - Doris M. Bourgeois, formerly of Lovers Lane, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville where she had resided since September of 2007. After her husband passed away she moved from Boonville to the Albany area to live closer to her daughters. Mrs. Bourgeois was born on June 30, 1925 to William G. and Doris (Jessop) Demuth. She graduated from Green Port High School on Long Island and moved to Washington, DC, where she was employed as a fingerprint specialist by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. She later worked as a telephone operator in Washington, and while living there met James Bourgeois. They married on May 5, 1948 in Rockville, MD and moved to Boonville. Mrs. Bourgeois worked for the General Telephone Co. in Boonville before retiring in 1991. Mr. Bourgeois, a veteran of WWII and owner of Bourgeois Esso Station in Boonville, died on October 26, 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Malachowski of Bradington, FL, and Joyce Egnaczyk and her husband, Ron, of Rotterdam Junction, NY; two sons, Bill Bourgeois of Old Forge and Rod Bourgeois of Talcottville; eleven grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by a sister, Flossie Demuth. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Eucharist on Friday, August 14, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Schuyler Street, Boonville, where The Reverend Linda Logan, Rector will officiate. Entombment of her ashes will be in Cooperstown at a later date. There are no calling hours. Her funeral arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville. Doris' family suggests memorial contributions in her name to The Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Activities Fund, 232 Academy Street, Boonville, NY 13309 or Alzheimer's Association, 4947 Commercial Drive, Yorkville, NY 13495.
