Doris A. Williamson, 78, of West Street, widow of Gilbert H. Williamson, passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at her home. She was born November 7, 1927 in Steuben Corners, a daughter of Charles and Alma Ritter Hoage. Doris grew up in the Steuben, Boonville and the surrounding areas, attending Boonville Central School. After her father died in 1943 she left school and went to work at Griffis Air Force Base as a helicopter mechanic, later making parachutes, to help support her family. On August 17, 1946 she was united in marriage with Gilbert H. Williamson in Boonville, after his service in the U.S. Navy. From 1946 to 1948 the couple resided on lower Schuyler Street, Boonville, moving to West Street, Constableville, in 1948. Mr. Williamson died September 21, 1985. Mrs. Williamson was a member of St. Paulï¿(TM)s Episcopal Church, Constableville, and formerly of the Constableville Womenï¿(TM)s Bowling League. She greatly loved her grandchildren, and enjoyed crocheting, crafts, flowers, gardening, baking, collecting wind chimes, cookie jars, and coins. She always had an open door for any one that needed a place to go. She is survived by seven daughters: Mrs. James (Gilda) Krywosa of Boonville, Lois Grubiak of Indianapolis, IN, Teresa Williamson of Forestport, Mrs. Thomas (Rhonda) Tomasi of Brownsville, VT, Ina Youngs and fianc Chip Schleicher of Boonville, Stephanie Williamson of Boonville, and Joy Williamson and fianc John Kranbuhl of Boonville; three sons: Rex Williamson of Constableville, Ryan Williamson and fianc Melissa Sfinas of Whitestown, and Robin Williamson and wife Carrie of Walnut Grove, MO; twenty-five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Alice Morin of Boonville, and Mrs. Lawrence (Fern) Watson of Alexandria Bay; her canine companion: Babe; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son: Allen in 1947; two sisters: Pearl Hulse and Lorraine Hoage; and by three brothers: Norman, Harry, and Otis Hoage. The funeral service for Mrs. Williamson will be at 10 am Saturday at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, with Rev. Eugene V. Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Constableville Rural Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 pm Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
