Boonville - Doreen M. Carpenter, 93, formerly of James Street, Boonville, passed away on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville where she had resided since October 7, 2010. Born on July 20, 1921 in Ft. William, Ontario, Canada to William C. and Mabel M. (Salmon) Jackson, her family relocated in 1926 to Cherry Valley, NY and subsequently to Turin, NY where she received her formal education. Doreen was united in marriage with Orrin Carpenter of Constableville, NY on October 27, 1945. Together they had seven children, and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Mr. Carpenter passed away on March 15, 1985. Family, faith and flowers were her priorities in life. No family conversation ended without her again telling of her love and admiration. Doreen was a faithful member of the Boonville United Methodist Church, the Young at Heart Senior Citizens of Boonville, and an avid competitive bowler well into her eighties. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in law: Florence (Larry) Goodheart of Lowville, Karen (Lester) Ossont of Lyons Falls and Florida, Karla (Tim) Roth of Boonville, and Linda (Ron) Fruin of Boonvile; one son, Orrin Carpenter, Jr. of Concord CA; and one sister, Edna Jackson of Lowville. Doreen was predeceased by two sons: Timothy Jackson Carpenter (1981) and David William Carpenter (1999), a grandson, Timothy Williamson (1981), four sisters: Margaret Wendt (1971), Eleanor Meiss (1977), Jane Flansburg (2009), Madge Damuth (2009), and a brother, William Albert Jackson (1979). The family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to all who assisted in providing Doreen with comfort and companionship; special thanks to Rev. Bill Mudge, Rev. Daniel Richter, Rev. Denise Bowen, and the exceptional staff of Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Interment in the spring will be held in Turin Cemetery. Her arrangements are in care of the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville.
