Constableville - Donald E. Frank, 91, a native and current resident of Constableville, passed away at home on James Street on Wednesday, December 30, 2009. He was born on November 27, 1918, a son of Herman and Anna Zimmer Frank. He graduated from Constableville High School, later earning his Masters Degree in Education from Potsdam State Teachers College. In 1939, Mr. Frank began his teaching career in a one-room school near Harrisville, NY. He retired from the Sauquoit Valley Central School in 1974, and had previously resided in Chuckerey Corners and New York Mills. Mr. Frank served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during WWII. As a member of the First Cavalry Division he had been stationed in New Guinea, Australia, the Admiralty Islands and the Philippines. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant. Don was a member of St. Mary's Church, Constableville, and a past president and honorary member of the Constableville Senior Citizens. For several years he enjoyed gardening, fishing, and gambling. He is survived by a sister, Beatrice Frank Kelly of Constableville; his guardian and niece, Brenda Kelly; and several nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by two sisters, Marguerite A. in 1917 and Miss Mary C. Frank in 1975, and two brothers, Robert J. in 1985, and Gerald W. in 1990. The family thanks his wonderful care givers, Lewis County Hospice, the Constableville Volunteer Fire Dept., Fr. Lawrence Marullo, and his many friends for their support and compassion. Services will be held at St. Mary's Church in Constableville at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Constableville Fire Dept., P.O. Box 438, Constableville, NY 13325 or to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, Inc., P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367. Arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
