Boonville - Donald C. Bishop, 76, of Hawkinsville Rd, passed away at his residence on Tuesday August 2, 2011, while under the loving care of his companion, family and hospice. He was born in Lisbon, on March 4, 1935, a son of Harold Foster and Isabell Jayson Bishop. Don grew up in the Hermon DeKalb area receiving his education at DeKalb Central School. He served his country in the US Army and was honorably discharged in December, 1963. Later he moved to Canastota, before moving to Boonville in 1980. While living in Boonville, he was employed for the late George Yager in the operation of the Lock Inn amd Burger Buster Restaurant, and for several years as an auto body mechanic for Zeigler Bros. Auto Colllision Service of Boonville. After that he was a self employed lawn mower and tractor mechanic. He greatly enjoyed vintage trucks and trout fishing. In addition to his companion of 23 years, Joanne E. Wood, Boonville, he is survived by five sons, David and Tim and wife, Lisa all of Gouverneur, Larry, Boonville, Joe, Syracuse, and Randy, Canastota; two daughters, Carol Jean (Rex) Kinney, Georgia, Cathy (Charlie) Bernal, Oneida; four step sons Carl and wife, Sharon, Rome, Jim and wife Pearl, Lowville, Dave and wife Candy, Port Leyden, Mike and wife Lori, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren, one great grandchild; seven sisters, Brenda, Georgia, Crystal, Ogdensburg, Zelda, Potsdam, Prudence, Odgensburg, Regina, Kentucky, Garnet, Florida and Debbie, Canastota; two brothers, Harold Foster Bishop, DeKalb, and Rodney, Oneida and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His funeral will be Thursday at 8:00 PM at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor David Hedeen of Boonville Alliance Church will officiate. Visitation hours are Thursday 2-4 & 6 until the funeral. Interment services will be Friday at 12 Noon at East DeKalb Cemetery, in St. Lawrence Co.
