Glenfield- Doig L. Salmon, 73, of Glendale Road, husband of Geraldine, passed away on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2005, at the Lewis Co. Extended Care Facility in Lowville, where he had been a resident since December 8, 2005. Doig was born in Lowville, on March 17, 1932, a son of Leo M. and Ruth Benedict Salmon. He grew up in Glenfield where he subsequently lived his entire life, residing at his current home since the age of twenty eight. He graduated from General Martin High School in Glenfield with the Class of 1949, and after that he was employed in the logging industry. In 1952, Mr. Salmon entered the U.S. Army, at Fort Dix, N.J. where he completed his basic training. While serving in the Army, he was chosen as the "Outstanding Soldier of his company." He also attended Leadership School, which qualified him for the Security Military Police assignment at Camp Perry, Williamsburg, Virginia. Mr. Salmon was honorably discharged from the service on October 22, 1954, with the rank of Corporal. For twenty four years Mr. Salmon was employed as a tractor trailer driver for the W.T. Byrns Transportation Co. of Watertown. For five years, he was employed for P.I.E., of Syracuse, as a truck driver on the east coast of the United States. He was a member of Teamster Union Number 317 Syracuse, NY from which he retired, and he was also a member of Teamster Union 687, Watertown, NY. On October 22, 1955, Doig was united in marriage with Geraldine M. (Jerry) Trombley at St. Martinï¿(TM)s Church, Port Leyden. Mr. Salmon was a member of St. Maryï¿(TM)s Church of Glenfield, and a twenty five year member of Lowville Elks Lodge # 1605. He greatly loved and cherished his wife and family, and being a father and grandfather. He also enjoyed gardening. In addition to his wife, Geraldine, he is survived by three sons; Dan L. Salmon and wife, Sue, (Nellenback,) Lowville, Dwayne S. Salmon and wife, Joanne,(Conway,) Turin, Dale Salmon, St. Petersburg, Fla., one daughter; Denise L. Warner and husband, Mark, Walkersville, M.D., eleven grandchildren; Danielle Peterson, and husband, Timothy, Brandon Warner, Andrea Salmon, Douglas Salmon, Ryan Salmon, Michael Salmon, Stacy Salmon, Tracy Salmon, Patrick Salmon, Cameron Warner, Rachel Salmon, one brother; David B. Salmon, and wife, Therese, Glenfield, two sisters; Mary J. Allen, and husband, Roger, Glenfield, Joyce M. Loson, and husband, Don, Old Forge, a beloved aunt, Edrie Salmon, Lowville, and nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Maryï¿(TM)s Church, Glenfied, with Rev. Timothy Soucy, Pastor, and celebrant. A spring interment will be in Old Glendale Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 5 P.M. to 9 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
