Steuben- Dietrich Klusmeyer, 77, a longtime resident of the Town of Steuben, passed away peacefully at his residence, on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
Dietrich was born in Traunstine, Germany, on May 12, 1946, a son of Dietrich F. and Rosa Klusmeyer. He grew up in the Bronx, New York City, graduating from an aeronautic high school, in New York City and later Mr. Klusmeyer enrolled in college courses. From 1965, until his honorable discharge in 1968, Mr. Klusmeyer served his country in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Viet Nam, during the Viet Nam War. After serving his country he was employed for many years, in central New York as an airline mechanic for several airline companies, before retiring as Vice President of operations for Empire Aero Center, of Rome, NY.
Dietrich is survived by a beloved grandson, Konnor Klusmeyer.
Graveside Services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Lee. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a veteran’s charity of your choice. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville, NY.
