Boonville – Dianne L. Scheehl, 76, of Post Street IRA, passed away in the comfort of her residence on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
Dianne was born in Boonville, NY on November 9, 1947 a daughter of Messia G. and Lydia Drexel Scheehl, and grew up in Woodgate. For several years Dianne resided in Copenhagen, NY with her longtime friend and caregiver Kathy LaVancha. Dianne then moved to the Port Leyden IRA facility, before returning to Boonville, where she resided on Post Street.
A beloved friend by her housemates and the facility staff, Dianne will be fondly remembered as a social butterfly. She loved to be on the go and still regularly attended the Castorland Day-Hab facility. She enjoyed working on puzzles, coloring and wearing nice clothes.
She is survived by her brother Sheldon (Kathy) Scheehl, Otter Lake, sister Lori (Jody) Durgan, Croghan, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings: Robert G. Scheehl, Janet Lavigna, and Charles Scheehl, and aunts: Hilda Collins and Charlotte Johnson.
A special thank you to Kathy LaVancha and family for the loving devotion and care given to Dianne through the years. Also to Kathy Bancorft and family, the Lewis County Health System Adult daycare staff, LCHS ICU, Port Leyden IRA, Castorland Day-Hab, and Post Street IRA staff for all your kind attention to Dianne, and all of those that touched her life.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 12:00 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with Pastor Dan Richter officiating. Interment will follow in Woodgate Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 11:00 am until the service.
