Boonville - Dennis F. Breen, 83, a long-time resident of Erwin Street, passed away after a long illness on Sunday, November 23, 2008, at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Syracuse. A native and lifelong resident of Boonville, he was born on April 10, 1925, a son of Frank and Julia Raymond Breen. He graduated from Boonville High School in the Class of 1942, and while in high school he was employed nights at the Rome Army Air Depot. Upon his high school graduation, Mr. Breen enlisted in the Army Air Corps, and served his country in the Pacific Theater of WWII as a waistgunner on B-29 aircraft. He was stationed at Tinian Air Force Base, adjacent to the island of Guam. After his honorable discharge he returned to Boonville. For several years after his military service, Mr. Breen was employed with his brothers in the operation of Breen Bros. Gas and Auto Service Station on North Post Street in Boonville. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Boonville. Dennis is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Brian N. and Sharon Breen, Boonville; a sister, Julia (Joy) Mooney, Talcottville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth Breen, and Leslie J. Breen, who died in September of 1990. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, where Rev. Donald H. Karlen, pastor, will celebrate. Interment will be in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours are Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville.
