Denell Douglass, 45, passed away on August 7, 2021, after a long battle with a rare cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends in the comfort of her eldest sister's home at the time of her passing. Denell was born in Rome, NY, on September 5, 1975, the youngest daughter of David Douglass and Deanne Burke Douglass. For many years Denell resided in Boonville, NY before moving to Holland Patent, NY for many years to follow. Of which she committed many years of service to the NYS DDSO and made life-long friends. She is preceded by her mother, Deanne Burke Douglass and is survived by a son, James Newland and daughter Corrine Newland, Fiancè, Patrick Newland, Father, David Douglass, and step-mother, Donna Douglass, Boonville, NY, sisters, Donna Douglass Austin, Boonville, NY, and Dawn Douglass Abel, Canastota, NY, nieces, Lynn Walters and Traci Abel, Nephews, Tyler Abel, and David Walters, brothers-in-law, Roy Abel and Allan Austin, dear friends, Greg and Tammy Ellinger, Aaron and Darlene Defazio, HopeAnn Cyr LoPresti, Rick Coe, and many others, as well as her life-long best friend, John Vanderland Jr., whom she met when she was 13, his daughter, Haley Vanderland, who was like a second daughter to Denell, and his wife Barbara Vanderland. Denell always had a zest for life and is whole-heartedly remembered by this, as well as her deep-rooted love for snowmobiling and all motorsports, along with her fondness of the Saint Lawrence River. Denell graduated Adirondack High School in 1993, where she dedicated years of her teen years to become a decorated competitive swimmer. She spent many years of her adult life supporting one of her favorite organizations, Pink Ribbon Riders, which allowed her to do what she loved while supporting breast cancer patients. Denell is well known for her ability to create light in dim situations, leading a bright-lit pathway to her final resting place. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by Interment in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at the funeral home.
