David H. Ferguson

Constableville- David H. Ferguson, 67, of West Main St., passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, near Saratoga Springs, NY, while doing the job he loved, driving his tractor trailer. David was born in Lowville, on July 4, 1952, a son of Eardley David and Nettie Ruth Watson Ferguson. He grew up in Greig, where he attended elementary school, later graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, Turin, with the Class of 1970. He was first employed at Kraft Foods, Lowville, followed by employment at V.W. Garage, Rome, Law Brothers, of Lyons Falls, as a painter, before operating his own logging company for many years. His last and current employment was as a truck driver for S.M. Gallivan, Troy, NY. In his younger years, Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. For many years he spent his weekends boating on the St. Lawrence River with his children and family. In his free time, Dave took on many excavating projects with his bulldozer. In recent years, he loved to drive his Galaxy Convertible around with the top down while stopping in to visit family and friends. Dave often visited his brothers to play Yahtzee. He had a very special relationship with his ex-mother in law, Eileen Harvey and always looked forward to their morning trips to Dorrity's Restaurant before her passing away in December, 2019. On Friday nights, Dave enjoyed going to dinner with his good friends, Walt and Judy Schirber. Most of all, Dave loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them. He was a devoted spectator at his children's and later at his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. As an animal lover, he enjoyed visiting all of his children's pets. Dave was a very caring and loving father and grandfather. He was always there when needed by his family and was the first to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. On July 10, 1971, David married Rebecca Fahey; thereafter the couple lived in Port Leyden for 16 years. David is survived by his children from his first marriage; Tessa (Brian) Greene, Boonville, Heather (Ryan) Brown, Port Leyden and David (Misty) Ferguson, Lyons Falls. David and Rebecca's marriage ended in divorce. On April 1, 1989, David married Tammy Fruin; thereafter the couple lived in Constableville. He is survived by his children from that marriage; Logan (Heather) Ferguson, Shaina Ferguson and Fianc Nathaniel Durick, Colchester, VT; two step children, Cody McDonald, Constableville and Tyler McDonald, Lyons Falls and his buddy Elijah Lohr. David and Tammy's marriage ended in Divorce. Also surviving is his eldest son, Joseph (Amy) Santamour, Constableville, step grandchildren, Allison Miller and Seth Miller; brothers, Eardley (Donna) Ferguson, Lowville, Michael (Rosemary) Ferguson, Battleground, WA and Daniel Ferguson, Greig and grandchildren, Mariah Mashaw, Mitchell Mashaw (pre-deceased), Cooper Brown, Tucker Brown and a great granddaughter, Hayven Mashaw. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life on Friday, July 3, 2020, at 12:30 P.M. at the Constableville Fire Hall, Constableville, NY, where contributions of food may be dropped off on Friday, at 11:30 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Constableville Fire Department, P.O. Box 438, Constableville, NY 13325, or to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY 13367. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
