Forestport- Cynthia L. Johnson, 70, longtime resident of Lorraine Road, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2021, at Rome Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. She was born in Herkimer, on June 30, 1950, a daughter of Vernon James and Helen Caroline Paulson Johnson. Cynthia grew up on Bull Hill, in the Town of Gray, Herkimer County and graduated from Poland Central School, with The Class of 1968. For many years she was employed as a waitress in area restaurants, including Scott's Landing, Rt. 28, Boonville, before retiring from The Old Mill Restaurant, Old Forge. Cynthia greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors; she especially enjoyed living in the hamlet of North Lake. During her youth, she attended Gray United Methodist Church. She is survived by her loving significant other of many years, Donald P. Scott, Forestport; her mother and step father, Helen and James King, Boonville; one daughter, Lori L. McWhite, Syracuse; one son, Bill Bates, Michigan; four grandchildren, three sisters, Noreen (George) Morgan, Baltimore, MD, Pam (David) Fairbanks, Kalispell, MT and Penny Johnson, Sugar Grove, NC and one brother, Dana Johnson, Town of Grey. She was predeceased by a brother, James Johnson and a sister, Joan Maine. In keeping with Cynthia's wishes there will be no services or calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to The Stevens Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, New York 13502. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
