Constance May Mooney

Port Leyden - Constance May Mooney, 71, of Moose River Road, wife of Gerald, passed away at her residence, on Sunday, October 14, 2018, while under the loving care of her family and Lewis County Hospice. Connie was born on March 3, 1947 in Rome, a daughter of Clark and Pauline Dumas Salmon. She grew up in Watertown and Lowville, graduating from Lowville Academy and Central School with the Class of 1965. For a time she was employed at Kraft Foods, Lowville and then Lally Manufacturing, Port Leyden. On January 18, 1985 Connie was united in marriage with Gerald E. Mooney. Together with her husband they ran CJs Dinner in Brantingham, where they also operated the Brantingham Post Office, retiring in1996. Connie loved playing cards, and will be fondly remembered for her skill at decorating both inside and out for the changing seasons and holidays. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were cherished by her, and she found her greatest joy in the time she spent with them. Besides her husband Gerald, Connie is survived by her children: John Burdick, Sr. (Cheryl), Michelle (Clifford) Colwell, and Kevin Burdick; grandchildren: Derek (Katie) Carpenter, John Burdick, Jr., Mitchell Burdick, Mackenzie (Taylor) Dorrity, Kayla (Ryan) Weber, Shawna Burdick, and Kaleb Burdick; great-grandchildren: Jordan and Danika Weber, Isabella Burdick, Gannon and Laila Burdick, and Mariah and Mallory Dorrity; daughter in law, Amber Burdick; siblings: Mary LaFleur, Barbara Nylen, Patricia Taylor, Michael (Donna) Gentry, and Jess (Amanda) Gentry. She was predeceased by an infant son Clark Burdick, granddaughter Chloe Burdick, her parents, and siblings: Annie Greenfield, John June, and Debra Hurley. Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, with a 10:00 A.M. prayer service at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Martins Church, Port Leyden. Interment will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. Calling hours are Tuesday, from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O.
