Clifford Leroy Furman

Forestport - Clifford LeRoy Furman, 91, husband of Iva Mae, of Lakeshore Drive, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 in the comfort of his home, while under the loving care of his family. Clifford was born on October 23, 1928 in Utica, a son of Ward and Laura Buck Furman. He grew up in Stittville, and received his education at Holland Patent Central School. Clifford had a wonderful career spanning over 35 years with the Town of Marcy, where he was employed as a heavy equipment operator. On February 24, 1951, Clifford was united in marriage with Iva Mae Potter at the Stittville United Methodist Church Parsonage. Thereafter the couple settled on Railroad St. in Stittville, where they raised their family. In the early 70s, Clifford constructed a home on Kayuta Lake, in the Town of Forestport. They enjoyed the residence as a camp, until they moved there permanently in 2006. Clifford was a member of the Stittville Fire Dept. for over 30 years, and was a past Assistant Chief. He was also a member of the Utica Lodge of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Marcy, NY. Clifford enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, mowing his lawn, and enjoyed hunting in the Stittville and Floyd Area. Clifford is survived by his wife Iva Mae, and a son Harold (Sharon) Furman, all of Forestport. He was predeceased by his son Kenneth LeRoy Furman on June 13, 2016. Also surviving are grandchildren: Stacy DAquisto (William Almas), Cold Brook, Melissa (Kevin) Bronk, Stittville, and Peter (Sabrina) Moot, III, Clarks Mills; great-grandchildren: Zada DAquisto (James Carney), Abigail DAquisto, Sarah and Rick Jones, Robert Bronk, and Peter Moot IV, one great-great-granddaughter Jane Carney; his sister Bertha Buckowski, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Walt, and sister Marjorie Cardinal. Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, December 7, from 2-5 pm at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Graveside services will be held this spring in Townsend Cemetery, Stittville. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Stittville Fire Dept. 9069 Main Street, Stittville, NY 13469.
