Clara Jean 'Duckey' Buckley

Palm Harbor, FL and Boonville, NY - Clara Jean Buckley, 74, a summer resident of Main Street, Boonville, and a winter resident of Palm Harbor, FL, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford. Affectionately known as "Ducky" by her relatives and friends, she was born in New Bremen on June 18, 1935 to Adin and Catherine Becker Hoch. She moved to Boonville at the age of nine, and graduated from Boonville Central School with the Class of 1952. Clara was united in marriage with Jerry M. Buckley at the First Presbyterian Manse in Boonville on September 10, 1954. Mrs. Buckley was well known throughout the United States as a trainer and handler of field trial retrievers, having achieved many awards and championships. She enjoyed spending time with her beloved grandchildren and traveling extensively in the United States and Europe. In addition to her husband, Clara is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Laurie of Chicago, IL, Jerry M. and Angela of Columbus, OH, and Richard and Ires of Orlando, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Buckley) and Joseph Schmitt of Springfield, OH; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters-in-law, Joan Carruthers of Dallas, TX and Lenore Hoch of Jacksonville, FL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. The last of four siblings, Clara was predeceased by a brother, Adin Hoch, Jr., and two sisters, Mary Andolina and Jane H. Egnaczyk. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Boonville Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Boonville Fire Co. Ambulance Fund PO Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10017. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
