Boonville- Christine (Post) Davis, 64, went home to be with the Lord, on January 23, 2014, at Albany Medical Center, after a long illness. She was born July 1, 1949, at Sunset Nursing and Maternity Hospital, in Constableville, a daughter of Harry and Mary Secor Post. Affectionately called Chris, she attended Port Leyden Elementary School, later moving to Boonville, where she graduated from Adirondack Central School with the Class of 1968. While in school, she attended BOCES, majoring in cosmetology, and she was a member of the Girls Athletic Association, playing soccer and soft ball. She was also a high school chorus member and a member of the Girls Rifle Team, earning Marksman, Pro-Marksman and a Marksman First Class awards. Her first employment was at Oakey's Restaurant, of Lowville, later she was employed at the Timber View Lodge of Glenfiled, in the kitchen and in room cleaning and she was also employed as a sewing machine operator at Lally Manufacturing Co. Port Leyden. Throughout their high school years, Chris and David had gone together; they were known as "Flip & Babes." On October 19, 1968, Chris was united in marriage with David Davis of Glenfield, at the First Baptist Church of Boonville. After their marriage the couple lived in Glenfield, later moving to Boonville. Chris and David both joined the First Baptist Church of Boonville; in March, 1984, Chris accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. For many years, Chris served as a teacher, and secretary and treasurer of the First Baptist Sunday School, as well as the church publicity chairman, publishing a monthly newsletter and organizing special events for the church. Many years later, Chris and her husband transferred their membership to the Boonville United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. In a one year period, as a mission project, she made a total of 65 dresses to send to girls in Haiti, following the catastrophic earth quake in Haiti. She will be fondly remember for the cards of encouragement that she wrote and sent to each child from the Methodist Church who attended Camp Aldersgate each summer. For many years she was a faithful telephone contact for the Boonville Methodist Church, related to coordinating food for church dinners, campership fund raisers and church social events and she was an active participant member of the church prayer chain. Mrs. Davis enjoyed selling Sarah Coventry Jewelry, she had participated as a Girl Scout Leader, and over the years she made 100s of crafts; recently she had enjoyed painting. She also wrote poems for special people and she and her husband enjoyed watching and feeding the birds and creating a beautiful Christmas display at their home each year. Chris cherished time she spent with her family and especially her grandchildren. In addition to her devoted husband, Chris is survived by her mother, Mary (Post) Graves, Ft. Meyers, FLA, a special daughter Deanna (Dee) Flansburg, and husband, Dale, Boonville; a special son, Jason "Jay" Davis and his wife, Mandy, Boonville; three special grandchildren, Corey Flansburg, Jacob and Meranda Davis, all of Boonville; a sister in law, Rubie (Post) Chalmers and husband, Guff, Rays Bay, NY, and her aunts, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
