Christine F. Gardner, 79, of Woodhull Road, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2006, at St. Elizabethï¿(TM)s Medical Center, Utica, after a short illness. She was born in Steuben, on January 25, 1927, the daughter of Ira and Cynthia Smith Schrider. Christine graduated Valedictorian of her class from Remsen Central School and from Marcy State Hospital School of Nursing. She married her best friend, William J. Gardner, on August 2, 1946, at the Steuben Corners Methodist Church. He passed away on April 16, 2005. Her heart never healed after losing him. She worked at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center for over forty one years. This was a job she loved almost as much as her role as a Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. Christine is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Richard (Cynthia) Cox, South Lake, Forestport, and Mrs. William (Patricia) Carpenter, Boonville, five Grandchildren: Kim Fazekas, and her husband, Jeff, Prospect, Jennifer Welch and her husband, Dennis, of Marcellus, Jill Carpenter and her fiancï¿(TM) Jim Ayers, of Port Ewen, N.Y., Marianne Currier and her husband, Michael, of South Hadley MA., Brian Carpenter and his fianceï¿(TM) Kate Scutt, Cleveland Heights, OH., seven grandchildren: James, Taylor and Daniel Burnop, Terra Fazekas, Emily and Matthew Welch and Emma Rose Currier. Also survived by her sister in law Ruth Schrider, and two nieces, Marie Smith and Wendy Schrider all of Rome. In addition to her husband, William, Christine is predeceased by two brothers; Carl Schrider, Ira Jr. (Red) Schrider, and a nephew, Karl Schrider. The Funeral Service for Christine will be Thursday at 12 Noon at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment to follow in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. and on Thursday from 11 A.M. until the time of the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Christineï¿(TM)s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sunset Nursing Home, Boonville, and a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the Special Care Unit at St. Elizabethï¿(TM)s Hospital, Utica, for the care and compassion shown to Chris and her family.
