Charlotte M. Willoughby

Boonville- Charlotte M. Willoughby, 87, widow of Channing, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse. Charlotte was born in Boonville, on October 17, 1932, a daughter of Robert and Iva Urtz Capron. She grew up in Boonville, graduating from Boonville Central School, with the Class of 1950. While in high school, she was employed as a ticket seller at the Franjo Theater. For several years Charlotte was employed at Hills Department Store, Boonville, first as a clerk and later as a buyer for Hills three stores. After employment at Hills, she was employed in the bookkeeping department of First National Bank, Boonville. On October 17, 1953, Charlotte was united in marriage with Channing "Chan" Willoughby, at the Boonville Methodist Church. For a time the couple lived in Rome, where Mrs. Willoughby was employed at Goldbergs in the Accounts Payable Department. In 1975, the couple returned to Boonville, where Charlotte was employed at the office of Henry Doughty Associates, accounting firm of Boonville, until Mr. Doughty retired. Her last employment was for Dave Peters Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, retiring in 1990. Mr. Willoughby, a retiree of Canterbury Press Co. of Rome, passed away on October 30, 2010. Charlotte and Chan had a love of boating and spent several years on the St. Lawrence River, as well as boating on many Adirondack Lakes, especially enjoying 4th Lake. Mrs. Willoughby was an avid reader and served on the Board of the Erwin Library for over 30 years. Charlotte is survived by a sister and brother in law, Dianne and Ben Daskiewich, a sister in law, Laurie Capron; one niece, Susan (Jeff) Thomas, and three nephews, Scott (Jean) Daskiewich, Dan Capron and Christopher (Rene) Capron. She was predeceased by her brother, George W. Capron, on October 7, 2019. Graveside services will be held privately at the convenience of her family in Boonville Cemetery.
