Charlotte H. Johnstone

Charlotte H. Johnstone, 76, of North Lake Road, widow of Robert E. Johnstone, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at St. Lukeï¿(TM)s Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, after a brief illness. Charlotte was born May 27, 1930 in Greenwich, CT, a daughter of William P., Jr., and Margaret E. Smith Hall. She graduated from high school in Greenwich and attended Alfred University. On April 26, 1952 she was united in marriage with Robert E. Johnstone in Riverside, CT. Following their marriage the couple moved to their home in Forestport. Mr. Johnstone died July 18, 2000. She was a member of the Forestport Presbyterian Church, serving as Clerk of Session, Elder, and was very active in the churchï¿(TM)s life. She was devoted to the love of her life, Bob, to her children, and to all of "Godï¿(TM)s creatures" that always found sanctuary near her home. For many years she has been known as the "Deer Lady". Charlotte is survived by three children: Phil and wife Amy Johnstone of Saranac Lake, Susan and husband Fred Evans of Boonville, and Robbie Johnstone and companion Wendy Thomas of Forestport; three grandchildren: Frederick Evans, Andy and Meghan Johnstone; one brother: William P. Hall III and wife LouEllen of Essex, VT. Her family expresses a special thanks to all of Charlotteï¿(TM)s friends, especially Dickie, Larry, Kathy, Betty, and Mary, and to the 4th and 5th floor staff at St. Lukeï¿(TM)s Hospital. A Celebration of Charlotteï¿(TM)s life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, July 14, at the Forestport Presbyterian Church. In accordance with her wishes there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Forestport Fire Fighters, Forestport, NY 13338, the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049, or to Defenders of Wildlife, 1130 17th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036. Arrangements are in the care of the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., Boonville.
