Charlie

April 4, 1938 — December 25, 2022

Boonville- Charles Case, 84, of Merry Hill Road, husband of Irene, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 25, 2022.

Affectionately known as Charlie, he was born on April 4, 1938, in Flemington, NJ, the son of Alston & Ida (Smith) Case. Charlie grew up in New Jersey and proudly served his country, in the Army National Guard, before having a successful career in law enforcement.

In the early 70’s he accompanied a friend to the North Country and fell in love with Northern New York. Charlie quickly moved his family to West Leyden and built the highly successful Hideaway, on Fish Creek Road, near West Leyden. After the sale of the Hideaway, Charlie owned and operated many successful businesses in Boonville, including Charlies Auto and Charlie’s Liquor.

Charlie was an avid outdoorsman and passed that love onto his sons. In 1993, he founded the Great Lot Sportsman’s Club, serving as President for over a decade. Charlie was a dedicated martial artist and a friend to all. Everyone that had the pleasure of meeting Charlie became a beloved friend. His easy going and warm personally made all feel like family.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Irene, as well as his children; Nona, Guy, Tara, Dirk and Dean. As a devoted family man, Charlie’s grandchildren were the light of his life. He leaves behind grandchildren, Nicole, Jordon, Amber, Keagen, Kennedy and Kiersten. You could always see the pride in Charlie’s eyes when he was either speaking of or in the presence of his beloved grandchildren.

Charlie was a great lover of animals and had many cherished pets. In his and his pets honor, please consider making a donation to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, New York 13367.
