Charles E Beha, 91, of West Leyden NY, passed away Saturday, October 1, at his home. Charles graduated from West Leyden School, was a dairy farmer, a member of the West Leyden Fire Department, woodsman and machine operator at Revere Copper Mill. He married Annetta (June) Bassett in 1948 and together they raised ten children. Charles was born and lived in his (same) house for all 91 years of his life. He was a pillar of the West Leyden community and the local farming community. In support of people everywhere he donated in excess of 12 gallons of blood as well as dozens of units of platelets through the American Red Cross. Among many other things he loved to read, play cards, play horse shoes, do cross word puzzles, bake pies, make his famous "grasshopper soup" and share a good story with friends. Charles is pre-deceased by his wife June and his daughter Beverly (Gary Gates). He is survived by nine children; Robert (Jean Snyder-Beha), Donna, Kathy (Brian Menard), Bill (Roxanne Warner), Linda (Colin Miller), Tom (Jean Scheg-Beha), Carol (Darren Bardun), Joyce (James Jackson) and Brian (Beth Garver-Beha), eighteen Grandchildren; Charles, Mary, Theresa, Patricia, Raymond, Zachary, Alyssa, Eric, Jenelle, Keith, Danielle, Kristen, Jacob, Joshua, Amanda, Katlyn, Kevin, Tabetha; and seventeen great grandchildren; Jaden, Tristian, Ryan, Trevor, Alexis, Chris, Savanna, Ciara, Annie, Ethan, Bryson, Faith, Serenity, Wyatt, Madison, Aubree, Azreal. Calling hours will be held at Trainor Funeral home, 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, NY 13309 on Thursday, October 6 from 1-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral will be Friday, October 7 at 10AM at St Mary's Church in West Leyden NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Red Cross, including blood or platelet donations; (redcross.org or your local blood drive) are greatly appreciated.
