Carthage- Charles A. Kraeger, 63, a former longtime resident of East Road, Port Leyden, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Lewis Co. General Hospital, Lowville, after a long illness. He was born in Boonville, on August 7, 1951, a son of Eugene and Margaret Mary Kraeger. Charles grew up near Port Leyden and attended Port Leyden School, completing his education at South Lewis Senior High School, Turin. For over 25 years Mr. Kraeger was employed as a paper maker at Fiber Mark Paper Co. of Lowville. A marriage to Karen Peebles ended in divorce. He is survived by one son, Charles A. (Nicole) Kraeger, Port Leyden; three daughters, Kelly (Tony) Adsit, Lowville, Jennifer (Tracy) Gyore, Watson, and Denise Kraeger and companion, Robert Burney, Port Leyden; thirteen grandchildren, two sisters, Rita (Larry) Loomis, Port Leyden, Peggy (Alfred) Corey, Copenhagen. Charles greatly enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and riding his four wheeler. He is also survived by two friends, that he enjoyed hunting with; Harry House and Billy House, of Carthage. The Kraeger family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff on the 2ond floor east wing of the hospital, for their care and compassion. His Funeral will be Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Mohawk Hill.
