Boonville - Celia M. (Paul) Anna, a 86, of West Street, affectionately known as "Peggy", passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Lewis County Extended Care Facility, Lowville where she had resided since April 2010. She was born in Little Falls on February 10, 1924, a daughter of Fred and Flora (Swartz) Paul. She graduated from Little Falls High School at the age of 16, and attended and graduated from St. Elizabeth's School of Nursing in Utica as a Registered Nurse in 1945. For many years following her graduation Celia was employed as an RN at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville and at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Utica. In 1975 Mrs. Anna furthered her education at SUNY Oneonta, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education, with certification to be a school nurse and teacher. She retired after several years as school nurse and teacher at Remsen Central School District in 1980. On September 22, 1945, Celia was united in marriage with David E. Anna at a catholic church in Little Falls. For many years the couple lived on West Street in Boonville. Mr. Anna died in 1997. Mrs. Anna was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Boonville, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the St. Claire Circle Daughter of Isabella. She also was a member of CSEA, Little Falls High School Alumni Class of 1942, St. Elizabeth Hospital Alumni Association, and a life member of the DAV Auxiliary. Survivors include a daughter, Karen E. Bauer of West Leyden; three granddaughters, Heather, Magen, and Sarah Bauer. Peggy was predeceased by a son, Donald Anna in 1999, and by a grandson, Justin Bauer in 2001. She was very proud of the accomplishments of her daughter Karen, and her three grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date at St. Joseph's Church in Boonville, with interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to a fund to be established for her youngest grandchild, Sarah Bauer, c/o Adirondack Bank, 13150 State Route 12, Boonville, NY 13309.
