Carol C. Hoffert

Constableville- Carol C. Hoffert, 72, formerly of Bailey Road, widow of Aaron, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at St. Lukes Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. More recently, Mrs. Hoffert had resided at Colonial Park Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Rome, and with her daughter, Melissa, in Blossvale. She was born on July 24, 1945, in Port Leyden, a daughter of Frederick and Helen Corbo Hance. Carol received her education at Port Leyden Central School, later receiving her GED. She attended and graduated from the Rome Campus of MVCC, where she earned a dual Associate Degree in Social Work and Human Resources. On February 24, 1962, Carol was united in marriage with Aaron J. Hoffert at St. Marys Church, Constableville. Mr. Hoffert, a long time dairy farmer died on August 4, 2015. Carol was employed as a seamstress at Lally Manufacturing Company, Port Leyden and was also employed at the Forge Motel, Old Forge, at Lewis County Department of Social Services and in the operation of her familys Sunnyside Farm, on Bailey Road. She was last employed as office supervisor at Curtains and Fabric Co. of Herkimer. Mrs. Hoffert was a member of St. Marys Church, Constableville. She enjoyed using her seamstress and baking skills in making wedding dresses and wedding cakes and doing many kinds of crafts, reading and playing bingo. She is survived by four daughters, Julie Hoffert, Hawkinsville, Denise Hoffert and her significant other, Mike Tomassi, Rome, Melissa (Curt) Kaido, Blossvale, Sharon (Carl) Wood Rome; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two sisters, Pam McCauley, Port Leyden, Linda Kleingardner, FL and one brother, Richard Hance, Boonville. Carol was predeceased by Wanda Smith, Mary Dixon, Alice Hoffert, Phyllis Baslow and Sharon and Shirley Hance. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, December 30, at 1:00 pm at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment this spring will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of the service, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lewis County Humane Society, P.O.
