Carl E. Mcgovern

~~Constableville- Carl E. McGovern, 90, a lifelong resident of Highmarket Road, passed away on June 16, 2017 at Lewis County Extended Care Facility, Lowville, with his loving family by his side. Affectionately known as Bud by his family, he was born at the McGovern Homestead and Cheese Factory in Highmarket on October 5, 1926 a son of Edward E. and Mary I. Anken McGovern. In 1935 Carl moved with his family to his current residence on Highmarket Road. Carl was an integral part in the operation of his familys dairy farm, and after his parents retirement, he continued the operation of the farm until 1999, when he retired. For several years Carl was also employed as a stone mason in a partnership with Robert Stabb of Talcottville. He was a member of the Eastern Milk Producers Co-op, and longtime chairman of the Boonville Agway Farmers Co-op. Carl was of the Catholic Faith and a longtime membership at St. Marys Church, Constableville, where he served on the parish council for many years. As a youth and younger adult he was a member of St. Patricks Church, Highmarket. Mr. McGovern was a founding member, president and current president of St. Patricks Church, Highmarket Restoration Society. During Carls many years of service to the Restoration Society, he used his talents and expertise in masonry and carpenter work towards the restoration of the church. Carl is survived by his three nieces: Donna (James) Lehman, Lowville, Jane (James) Allen, West Leyden, and Mary (Michael) Dutch, Boonville, one nephew William (Beth) McGovern, Constableville, and several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Pauline McGovern. In keeping with Carls wishes, there are no calling hours and a graveside service will be held at privately at the convenience of his family at St. Marys Cemetery, Constableville. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Marys Church, P.O. Box #382, Constableville, New York 13325, or to Constableville Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 438, Constableville, NY 13325. Carls arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
