Town of Western- Bruce N. Capron, 67, of Buck Hill Road and formerly of Beckwith Road, husband of Barbara, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, after a short illness. A native of Boonville, Bruce was a son of the late Harry Erlo and Jean Flint Capron. He grew up on the Capron family farm on Jackson Hill, near Boonville and graduated from Adirondack Central School, with the Class of 1969. From 1971 until his honorable discharge in 1973, Mr. Capron served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Leavenworth, KS, during the Viet Nam War. He served in the US Army Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1977. Bruce attended SUNY Oswego, where he graduated earning a Bachelor Degree in Math and Computer Programing. For several years he was employed as a Computer Programmer at Revere Copper & Brass Co., Rome, NY and also at Chicago Pneumatic Tool Co. Utica. On September 25, 1976, Bruce was united in marriage with Barbara Stafford, at the Norfolk United Methodist Church, Norfolk, NY. He was a member of the Living Waters Assembly of God Church, Boonville. Bruce came from a farming background and he enjoyed a lifetime interest in agriculture; while living on Beckwith Road, he and his wife operated a small dairy farm and later while living in Brushton, NY (Franklin County), Bruce and his family operated a hay farm. After the couple relocated to their present home on Buck Hill Road, he greatly enjoyed raising large gardens of many kind so vegetables, potatoes, grapes and apple trees. Bruce greatly enjoyed military history and especially watching historical movies about World War II. In addition to his wife, Barbara, Bruce is survived by one son and daughter in law, Matthew (Melanie) Capron, Peterborough NH; three daughters and one son in law, Karyn (Patrick) Dugan, Malone, Brenda Capron, Colleen Capron, both of Westernville. He was predeceased by a son, Adam Capron, in 2018. Also surviving is a daughter in law, Abby Capron, Massena and his siblings; John (Gloria) Capron, Modena, NY, William (Renata) Capron, West Linn, OR, David (Donna) Capron, Romulus, MI, Susan Capron Davis (Thom) Chicago, IL, Marjorie Capron Mahaffy (John), Boonville and Andrew (Joyce) Capron, Canton, GA, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; Harry Erlo Capron, on November 2, 2013, and Jean Capron, on February 14, 2016. A Memorial Service and celebration of memories of his life will be Thursday, February 7, at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Pastor William McLoughlin, of the Living Waters Assembly of God Church, of Boonville, will officiate. Calling hours are Wednesday 5-8 and Thursday 10:00 A.M. until the service, at the funeral home.
