Boonville and Melbourne Beach, Fla- Bruce K. Denslow Sr., 87, a former long time resident of East Road and more recently of Post St. passed away suddenly in Boonville, on Friday, August 14, 2015. He was born in the Town of Leyden, on June 7, 1928, a son of Kenneth G. and Lillian Mowers Denslow. Bruce received his education at Port Leyden Central School, where he graduated with the Class of 1946. Following graduation, he was employed at Sheffield Farms Milk Plant, and at Sargeants Chair Factory, both in Boonville. On January 1, 1948, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Janet Rice; this was a loving union that endured for 66 years, until she passed away on September 12, 2014. After his marriage, Mr. Denslow began his employment career with his father-in-law, Jay Howard Rice, in the Equipment Division of Boonville Manufacturing Co. In 1968, he and Janet purchased the company from Mr. Rice, and the company continued as Denslow Equipment and Excavating Company, Incorporated. With a decline in the farm equipment market, Mr. Denslow transitioned into sales and service of logging equipment. Mrs. Denslow served as secretary and bookkeeper for the business. In 1991, the Denslows' retired. The company has since been owned and operated by Mr. Denslow's son, Lyn. Bruce had a long time interest in the New York State Woodsmen's Field Days; beginning in 1988, and for many years thereafter, he served on the Board Of Directors of the Woodsmen's Field Days. Mr. Denslow was named Honorary Grand Parade Marshall for the 2004 Woodsmen's Field Days. Mr. Denslow was a member of Boonville United Methodist Church. He also took pride in his 60 year membership of Boonville Masonic Lodge #165 F & A.M. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors for the Boonville Cemetery Association for several years. For many years the Denslows' enjoyed spending winters at their home at the Outdoor Resorts of America in Melbourne Beach. FL. Mr. Denlsow is survived by his children: Alan and his wife, Joanne, Cape Coral, FL; Braden and his wife, Christine, Norcross, GA; Janette Liddle and her husband, Craig, Palm Harbor, FL; Bruce K. Jr. "Butch" and his wife, Jan; Jim and his wife, Judy; Lyndon and his wife, Mollie; all of Boonville. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Blanche Pfendler, Elaine (Frederick) Kline, both of Boonville; Madeline Schoff, Rome; two brothers: G. Edwin Denslow, Pittsburgh, PA; Roderick (Linda) Denslow, Leesburg, FL. He was predeceased by brother Richard, Donald ("Pete"), and Douglas. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law: Marvel and Mary Denslow, both of Boonville and Jan Denslow, Waynesboro, PA. He also leaves behind a large extended family. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, following calling hours which will begin at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
