West Leyden- Bruce D. Freeman, 74, of Osceola Road, passed away while surrounded by the loving care of his family, on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where he had resided since May, 2024.
Bruce was born in Syracuse, on August 2, 1950, a son of Keith Harley and Marion A. Hrynuk Freeman. He grew up in Alden, NY, (Erie County), where he graduated from high school. Following, he entered the service of his country, in the U.S. Navy, during the Viet Nam War. He was stationed in California and honorably discharged on September 10, 1970, from the Naval Station, Long Beach, Ca, earning a National Defense Service Medal. Thereafter he served in the US Navy Reserves, until his honorable discharge in 1974.
For many years, Mr. freeman was employed as a truck driver for Yellow Freight Company, Buffalo, NY, driving on a route from Buffalo to New Hampshire.
Upon his retirement in 2006, he moved to his present home on the Osceola Road, near West Leyden. Bruce especially enjoyed spending time at his family’s camp, near Osceola.
In addition to his companion of seventeen years, Darlene A. Spinella, Bruce is survived by cousins in the Witzigman family and by close friends, Dale Edwards, Gary Lang and Robert Smith. He was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Marion and by two brothers, George and Jack Freeman.
Bruce’s companion, Darlene, wishes to extend a sincere note of thanks and appreciation to the nurses and staff on C-Wing at Sunset Nursing & rehabilitation Center for the excellent care given to Bruce.
In keeping with his wishes, there are no calling hours or services. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
