Brian Gallo

December 26, 1959 — January 18, 2020

Camden- Brian Paul Gallo, age 60, of Camden, left us unexpectedly on January 18, 2020. Born December 26, 1959, in Rome, New York to Charles and Lila M. Boardman Gallo, Brian grew up in Swancott's Mills, attending West Leyden and Adirondack Central School, where he studied in the BOCES Forestry Program. In 2000 he moved to Preston Hill Road in Camden. Brian's working years were spent on heavy highway construction jobs all over the state with Gallo Brothers Construction and Rifenburg Construction. Brian had a happy life and made friends everywhere he went. He was a big-hearted, generous guy, and despite his failing health, always willing to help anyone out with a ride or by running errands. He had the gift of gab, and his was a familiar face at all the local eateries, where he was never shy about striking up a conversation with anyone. Cell phones, the internet and Facebook kept him in touch with his friends all over the country. Brian made 100's of Tug Hill Weather Sticks which continue to predict the weather in 50 states from coast to coast. Brian loved to fish, hunt and trap on Tug Hill. Some of his best memories were of his winter vacations in Florida with Osceola friends, being a guide for groups of snowmobilers on Tug Hill trails, and a week spent snowmobiling with Larry and Gen Fuller and friends in Yellowstone Park. Brian enjoyed children, often playing Santa Claus at local functions. Just last summer he took his niece and her children fishing up at camp in North Osceola, a memorable day for all. He will be missed. Brian is survived by his mother, Lila Gallo, and his sister Kathleen Gallo of Camden; his sister-in-law, Linda Gallo, of West Leyden; nephew Nicolas Gallo (Patricia) and their children, Trevor and Alexis of Boonville; nephew, Richard (Jennifer) and their children, Kaitlin and Raymond of Boonville; niece, Angela (Joseph) Zacheri and their children, Julia and Silas of Wake Forest, N. Carolina; niece, Joanna (Paul) Keck of Whitesboro; and his kind and faithful friends, Jim Kowalski and Valerie and Larry Witzigman. He will be greatly missed by his beloved cat, Willow. Brian joins his father, Charlie, his brother, Raymond and his brother-in-law, Ron Bumpus as he transitions to Heaven. Brian's family offers a special thank you to the members of the Camden Volunteer Fire Department for their professional and compassionate care in all those trips to the ER. The family requests that memorial contributions be forwarded to Camden Fire Department. 14 Church St. Camden, NY 13316. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in the spring in Boonville Cemetery, at a time and date to be announced. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
