Forestport- Robert Youngberg, age 65, originally from Montgomery, NY passed away suddenly early Saturday morning on the 17th of December, in Forestport, NY.
He was a loving and devoted husband, “The King” of 35 years to his wife, Nancy. He loved taking his evening rides with her and their beloved dog Madeline and enjoyed their time together at their home in Florida. No one made a better iced water, and there was rarely a problem he couldn’t fix with a spare bit of this or that he had stashed away – he was a true MacGyver.
A patient and loving caregiver to his daughter Kira, her smiles shined bright and her laughs were frequent when he was near. He was so proud of his son, Robert and all that he has accomplished. Graduating college, starting his career and the beautiful family he created granting him a daughter in law, Ashley and his three grandchildren, Paxton, Reagan and Sawyer who lovingly called him “Papa.”
As owner of the Wigwam Tavern, Robert along with Nancy, was sincerely dedicated to supporting and serving the Forestport and surrounding communities for approximately four decades.
Robert enjoyed camping, fishing with his son, and could often be found driving through the local neighborhood lending a hand wherever it may be needed.
Robert, “The King,” “HONEYYYY,” “Dad,” “Papa,” “Bob,” will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him including the dedicated employees and dear friends at the Wigwam Tavern and much loved honorary member of the family, Joann Barry.
He was predeceased by this mother and father, Florence and Theodore Youngberg, as well as his sisters, June Paules and Alice Wild, and his brothers, Teddy and Henry Youngberg. He is survived by his sisters, Dorothy Bell and Noreen Wallace and well as many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
