Constableville, New York...Beverly Jean Kohler, 84, a lifetime resident of the Lewis County area, left us to be with Jesus at 7:04 a.m. on Monday March 11th, 2024, peacefully going to heaven at one of her homes on Edgewood Drive, Lyons Falls NY.
Beverly was born June 25th, 1939, daughter of the late Adeline Tuttle and Edward Kohler. She was the loving mother of 7 children, 4 sons & 3 daughters from her marriage to Duane C. Stanford Sr., which ended in divorce in 1991.
Beverly worked for many years for the ARC of Lewis County and retiring in 2004 as transportation coordinator.
Our mother taught us many things as young kids that are still with us today:” good manners, respect and sound moral values. These values have made us who we are, and we thank her very much. As proud as mom was of us, she always liked to leave room for us to make her a little prouder, which was her way of pushing us to achieve. Our lasting memories of Mama are simple: a hard-working, passionate figure of strength who never wavered in her support or love of her family, and who soldiered on even when times were tough.
Beverly inspired all who knew and loved her by the strength and perseverance that she maintained during bouts of cancer and many major surgeries in her later years.
She is survived by a son Duane Stanford Jr & Michelle Baker, Port Leyden NY, a daughter Susan Houppert & son in law Greg Houppert, Black River NY, a son Thomas Stanford and daughter in law, Tina Stanford, Lyons Falls NY, a daughter Dawn Widrick, Adams NY, a son Eugene Stanford, Port Leyden NY, a son Michael Stanford and daughter in law Kristin Stanford, Port Leyden NY and a daughter Melody Stanford and Jay Thoden, Port Leyden NY, as well as 19 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren.
Beverly has quoted that: "Leaving behind, while she awaits him at heaven's gate, with much love, is the love of her life, Leonard Charles Wilder" of Constableville, NY. Leonard, born May 16, 1945, was originally from Jonesville, Va. Beverly and Leonard have been blessed to be together since May 1986.
Survived by Beverly is 1 brother, William Tuttle and 2 sisters Marjorie Hancock & Iva Hellinger. Predeceasing Beverly were 5 brothers, Ed Kohler, Bob Kohler, Roy Kohler, Richard Tuttle, Charles (Cork) Tuttle, Beatrice (Bea) Price Kenealy, Chester Price and Kenneth Price.
Beverly will be greatly missed by many as she awaits the arrival of all her loved ones in heaven. In writing this eulogy for our Mama, our hearts remember all she has taught us and the times she stood by us when we needed her. We are inspired by the strength and strong will she has always shown all of her children, and pray that we can use that, not only in our lives, but that we can also instill it into our children's lives as our Mama did in our lives. Thank you, Mama!
God Bless You in heaven our beloved Mama, Life Partner, Grandma, Sister, & Friend. One day we will all meet again beyond the Golden Gates of Glory.
In keeping with Beverley’s wishes, her family will gather at a later date for a celebration of life luncheon. There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place, with a private interment of her cremains in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. Her arrangements are entrusted to Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
