Garden Grove, CA/Camden, NY - Betty L. Campbell, a formerly of State Route 69, passed away January 20, 2011, while under the loving care of her family in the city of Garden Grove, CA. Betty was born on September 3, 1929 at the Fey homestead on Osceola Road, town of Lewis, a daughter of Lester C. and Florence (Mowers) Fey. She grew up in West Leyden and graduated from West Leyden High School. She attended college in Utica and studied to become a lab technician. For many years she was employed as a lab technician, first at the Madison County Bacteriological Lab of Oneida, NY, then at the Oneida City Hospital lab, and later for several area physicians. Betty also had worked for the Red Cross of Syracuse. She had married and was divorced from Theodore Kruk prior to being married to and divorced from John Campbell. Later she resided in Fayetteville, NY, with Walter Hughes, and then in Camden, NY with Everett Milliman. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church of Oneida for many years. More recently she had joined the congregation of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Garden Grove. She was strong in her Christian faith and was a continuing source of strength to her family despite any adversity. For more than twenty-five years Betty was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as a chapter Regent. She is survived by two daughters, Christine Herdman and her husband, David of Battle Creek, MI, and Lisa Macdowell and her partner, Jackie of Garden Grove, CA; six grandchildren, Edwin and Michael Herdman, and Anthony, Jasmine, Desiree, and Ian Macdowell; two brothers, Leslie Fey and his wife, Mitzi, and Norman Fey and his wife, Tillie, all of West Leyden; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services are Saturday, February 5, at 3:00 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, with a spring interment in West Leyden Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 6-8 p.m. and Saturday 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Joseph Health System Hospice, 1845 W.
