Betty Jane (Devoe) Croniser

Boonville-Betty Jane (Devoe) Croniser, 70, of State Rt. 12D, widow of Fredrick, passed away on Tuesday December 13, 2005, at her residence, where she was under the care of her loving family, and hospice.

A daughter of Floyd I. and Martha Sattler Devoe, Betty was born on June 13, 1935, at the Devoe Family homestead farm on Rt. 12D at Barrett Corners, in the Town of Leyden. She grew up on the family farm, attending Town of Leyden Rural School, and then Boonville Central High School, graduating with the Class of 1954. For a time thereafter she was employed as a secretary at Chicago Pneumatic Co. of Utica.

On February 26, 1955, Betty was united in marriage with Fredrick Lewis Croniser at St. Maryï¿(TM)s Chruch of Constableville. After that the couple operated a farm on Rt. 12D, moving to a farm on the East Road which they operated from 1962 until 1969, when they moved to West St. in Boonville. In 1997, they moved to their present home following a fire at their West St. residence. Mrs. Croniser was also employed as a clerk for Mercerï¿(TM)s Dariy Store in Boonville, and then as a seamstress at Lally Mfg. Co. Port Leyden. Mr. Croniser died on June 28, 1998.

She was a member of St. Josephï¿(TM)s Church of Boonville.

Bettyï¿(TM)s greatest joy in life was her family. She treasured time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Betty will be fondly remembered for her excellent cooking, and her fine unending hospitality she gave to all in her home. She took pride in her home and loved music of all kinds, especially polka music by "Fritzï¿(TM)s Polka Band."

Betty is survived by three daughters: Betty L. (Lieber) Croniser, Port Leyden, Beverly M. Norton, and husband, Geoff, Sandra A. Hrim, and husband, Wasyl, both of Boonville, three sons: Jerry F. Croniser, Boonville, Frederick L. Croniser, Jr., Greig, Andrew M. Croniser, and his wife, Dawn, Forestport, twenty grandchildren: Michael A. Jr., Melissa Jane, Mark Frederick, Mary Frances, Bettyann J.M. Thomas, Aaron, Julianne, Katie, Heather, JoLene, Abner, Angel, Albert, Angela, Wasyl, Jr. Paul, Rhonda, Amanda, Frederick, seventeen great grandchildren, and at this time Betty was joyfully anticipating the birth of a grandson. Also surviving are two sisters: Irene Jones, and husband, Richard, Martinsburg, Lulabel DeLarm, Sylvan Beach, two brothers in law: Robert Miller, Boonville, Louie Snyder, Port Leyden, her loving sisters in law: Helen Sylvester, MaryAnn, and husband, Tom Kenealy, Iva Croniser Adeline Croniser, many nieces and nephews, and her dear friend of many years, Mary Putney, Boonville.

Betty was predeceased by three sisters: Shirley Snyder, Arlene Miller, and Gertrude Miller. Her fiance, Kenneth A. Yousey, Jr. died on January 30, 2005.

She loved animals, and is survived by her dogs, Little Pedro and Princess.

Her funeral will be Friday at 9:30 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. and at 10:30 A.M. at St. Josephï¿(TM)s Church, both in Boonville, where Rev. Fr. Donald H. Karlen, Pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. A spring interment will be in St. Josephï¿(TM)s Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours are Thursday, 2-4 & 6-9 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home.
