Boonville - Elizabeth Ann Davis Capron, 95, lifelong resident of Boonville, widow of Clinton, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at Wynn Hospital, Utica, following a brief illness.
Affectionately known as Betty, she was born to Jules M. and Hazel Jones Davis on September 5, 1928. She attended Boonville High School and graduated with the Class of 1947. While in school, she enjoyed playing on the basketball team. She worked for several years at Fitch Supply Co. and Willard Press.
On June 12, 1948, Betty was united in marriage with Clinton C. Capron at the Boonville United Methodist Church. Clint and Betty enjoyed 67 ½ years of marriage until he passed away on September 16, 2015.
Betty was a member of the Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, and was an active member of the Woman’s Group, volunteering for many of their activities such as driving people to the church meals. She was a member of the Salma Chapter #193, Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Matron and Associate Grand Marshal of the O.E.S. of NYS. She and Clint also volunteered at the O.E.S. Home in Oriskany. Betty was a talented gardener and loved to share her flowers with others. She was a volunteer at the registration booth of the local Bloodmobile, and for years was leader of the Brownie Scouts.
When Clint retired, he built their camp on the Black River, and the whole family has many great memories of time spent there. They also liked to go camping at Canoe Point on the St. Lawrence River. Betty was also active in the Boonville senior bowling and golf leagues.
She is survived by her three children: Edward (Deb) Capron, Anne (John) McLaughlin and Joan (Mark) VerSchneider, all of Boonville; grandchildren: Jennifer Capron and Dave, Jason (Cyndy) Capron, Julia (John) Reade, Travis (Heather) McLaughlin, Michael (Jeny) McLaughlin, and Patrick McLaughlin and fiancé Erica; great-grandchildren: Emrie, Wynter, Gavin, Dekyn, Lexi and Emma. Also surviving are cousins and friends and Sam the cat. Besides her husband, her sister Nancy Earl predeceased her.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours will be held from 11:00 am until the service. Interment in Boonville Cemetery will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to Boonville Methodist Church, Ann Street, Boonville, NY 13309 or to the Humane Society of Rome, P.O.
