Boonville- Bette (Jenkins) Murphy, 80, of Main St., Boonville, passed away at her residence on Thursday, September 23, 2021, while under the loving care of her family and Hospice. Bette was born in Forestport, on April 11, 1941, a daughter of Maynard A. and Adelma Mae Edwards Jenkins. She grew up on the Dutch Hill Road, near Forestport, and received her education at Forestport Central School. Later she earned her GED and attended nursing school. For many years Bette was employed in health care working at area hospitals and also in private residences. Later for many years she was also employed many aspects of restaurants over a wide area of upstate and central New York. For many years she was a baby sitter who became affectionately known as "Grandma Bette." She was married to Richard Raymond, later they were divorced and to Walter Scott and they were also divorced. Her husband, William F. Murphy, passed away on December 10, 2014. Bette greatly enjoyed gardening, where she raised flowers and plants and she was skilled at and enjoyed doing many kinds of arts and crafts. She is survived by her children; Julie (Rick) Hunkins, Old Forge, Carolyn (Nate) Hall, Holland Patent, Robert Raymond, Ava, Walter Scott, Jr., Lyons Falls, Charles E. Scott, Boonville; her grandchildren, Roy and Shana, Heather, Tiffany and John, Melanie, Chloe and Kennedy; great grandchildren, Brenna, Renee, Justin, Alyssa, Destiny, Mariah and Bella, Riley, Mia and Shawn. She was predeceased by one grandson, Tyler Raymond. Also surviving is one sister, Candy Combs, Forestport and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Laurie Okusko, Joan Ferguson, Beverly Ritter, Patricia Hughes and Phyllis Jenkins who died as an infant. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation hours on Tuesday from 4-7 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and services at Alder Creek Cemetery on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. Bette possessed a great love and affection for animals; memorial contributions may be made to Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. box 682, Lowville, NY 13367.
