Bernice I. (McCanney) Percoskie, 89, of Payne Road, widow of Stanley "Stub" Percoskie, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2007, at the home of her daughter and son in law, Eileen R. and John Conway on the East Road, Turin. A native of West Leyden, Bernice was born on October 1, 1917, a daughter of James J. and Rose Hoffert McCanney. She grew up in the Town of Lewis, in the vicinity of Fish Creek, attending a rural school. Before her marriage she was employed at Rome Cable Co., and at a laundry company in Rome. On October 13, 1945, Bernice was united in marriage with Stanley "Stub" Percoskie, at St. Hedwigï¿(TM)s Church, of Houseville. After their marriage the couple settled on the former Smykla on the East Road near Turin. The couple operated this dairy farm until their retirement in December, 1983. After that Bernice and Stanley constructed a new home on the Payne Road near Turin. Mr. Percoskie died on December 20, 1987, and Mrs. Percoskie had made her home with her daughter since July, 2006. She was a long time member of St. Hedwigï¿(TM)s Church, Houseville, and in recent years, Bernice was a member of St. Maryï¿(TM)s Church, Constableville. She enjoyed sewing and making Raggedy Ann Dolls, baking, snowmobiling with her family, and most of all for many years she enjoyed going to Polish dances with her husband. Bernice greatly loved her family, and in addition to her daughter and son in law, Eileen R. and John Conway, Turin, she is survived by three loving grandchildren: Randy and Sue Conway, Turin, Jacqueline Kenealy and John, Lowville, Joanne Salmon and Dwayne, Turin, eight loving great grandchildren: Sarah and Nicholas Kenealy, Derek and Jacob Conway, Douglas, Ryan, Patrick, Rachel Salmon, one adored great granddaughter; Julia Shue, and one brother, Gerald McCanney, North Carolina. Bernice was predeceased by five brothers: Norman, Aubrey, Jerome, Donald, and Lyndon McCanney. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Maryï¿(TM)s Church, Constableville, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo, pastor will officiate. Interment will be in St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Cemetery, Constableville. Calling hours are Tuesday 7-9 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
