Bernice I. Levan

Boonville- Bernice I. LeVan, 95, of a resident of Feeder St. since 1998, passed away at Rome Memorial Hospital, on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, after a brief illness. She was born in Webster, NY, on August 13, 1919, a daughter of John V. and Julia P. Herbst Schneider. Bernice grew jup in Rochester, where she graduated from East High School, Rochester, with the Class of 1937. On January 31, 1941, Bernice was united in marriage with Alfred Stanley LeVan, at St. Ambrose Church, Rochester. Mr. LeVan, a US Army Veteran of WWII, and 43 year employee of Rochester Gas and Electric Co, passed away on August 4, 1983. After that Mrs. LeVan relocated to Charlotte, NC, where she lived until moving to her present home in Boonville. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, and the Catholic Women's Club. Mrs. LeVan is survived by five sons, Stanley John (Jack) (Karen) LeVan, West Leyden, William, California, Timothy and Carolyn, Constableville, Alan, Mesa, AZ, and Todd and Elaine, Foresthills, CA; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; one sister, Sister Johnathan Schneider, St. Joseph's Mother House, Pittsford, NY. She was predeceased twin brothers, Anthony and George, Raymond, Bill and John and by sisters, Rita Pinkerton and Agnes Grout. Also surviving is a cousin Sister Seraphine Herbst, at St. Joseph's Mother House, Pittsford, NY. A private graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Fish Creek.
