Bernard L. Lallier

Boonville- Bernard L. Lallier, 82, of Ford St. husband of Lorene, passed away at his residence, after a heroic battle with cancer, on Friday, December 27, 2013, while surrounded by the loving care of his family. Affectionately known as Bernie, he was born in Kirschnerville, on September 15, 1931, a son of Peter A. and Delia Youngs Lallier. He grew up in Lyons Falls, where he graduated from high school with the Class of 1950. While in high school, Bernie lettered in Football, Basketball and Baseball and was the leading pitcher for the Baseball team. In October, 1951, Mr. Lallier entered the U.S. Air Force, serving his country until his honorable discharge with the rank of Staff Sgt, on October 5, 1955. While serving in the Air Force he was an air craft mechanic, stationed in the U.S, Germany and Libya. Immediately thereafter, for a short time, he was employed at Georgia Pacific Paper Co. of Lyons Falls. In 1957, Mr. Lallier began his employment at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, retiring in 1987, as Supervisor of the base Military Aircraft Transient Maintenance Department. For several years after his retirement, he was employed part time at Trainor Funeral Home, Boonville, and for many years he was a self employed TV repairman. On November 9, 1957, Bernie was united in marriage with Lorene Urtz, at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. In 1958, the couple purchased their present home where they have since lived. In addition to his family, music was the sunshine of Bernie's life. He was a very talented musician, who was well known for his accordion, keyboard and guitar playing. For many years he was a member of the Rhythm Riders Band, a North Country favorite providing music for benefits and other social occasions. He greatly enjoyed camping with his family and attending musical entertainment at the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, TN, and the Country Music Hall of Fame, in Branson, MO, as well as events at Turning Stone Casino. Mr. Lallier attended the Lyons Falls Bible Fellowship Church and was a member of Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Boonville, and the Boonville Elks Lodge # 2158. He is survived by his loving wife, Lorene; two daughters and sons in law, Debbie (Martin) Shue, Port Leyden, Darlene (Joseph) Hulbert, Remsen; one son and daughter in law, Darren (Tracy Kwasniewski) Lallier, Boonville; his grandchildren, Mandy Shue (Nate) Addley, Douglas (Karin) Brinkerhoff, Michael Shue and Monica, Bethany and Audrey Lallier; one sister, Clara Julian; step brothers; Richard, Tom, Claude, Joe and Louie Levesque; and two step sisters, Patty Levesque Watson and Marie Levesque Burnham. He was predeceased by a sister Bernice Lallier Galloway and by step brothers, Paul, Charlie, George and John Levesque. His Funeral will be Monday at 11:00 A.M. at the Lyons Falls Bible Fellowship Church, Rt. 12, Lyons Falls, where Pastor Jeff Ford will officiate. Interment will be in the spring in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours are Sunday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
