Beatrice "Bea" Millard Kent, 89, of Holmes Road, widow of Allison F. Kent, passed away Friday, January 4, 2008, at St. Elizabethï¿(TM)s Medical Center, Utica, after a short illness. She was born October 17, 1918 in Martinsburg, a daughter of Rutson J. and Emogene H. Petrie Millard. Bea grew up in northern New York, and on October 24, 1938 she was united in marriage with Allison F. Kent in Sacketts Harbor. In 1941 the Kents purchased the Capron Farm on Holmes Road, Boonville, and Bea assisted her husband with operating the farm along with raising their daughters. Mr. Kent died August 3, 1997. Bea was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Boonville, serving as an Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. She was devoted to all of the churchï¿(TM)s activities, including In His Name and the Tuesday prayer meetings. Bea held K.O.P.S. status in the T.O.P.S. organization, Boonville. She greatly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and took pride in her gardens and her home. She is survived by four daughters: Joyce Guntsch-Shinkel of Montrose, MI, Janet Bennett of Port Leyden, Mrs. Matthew (Sandra) Conway of Boonville, and Mrs. Anthony (Jean) Mierek of Boonville; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three sisters: Elizabeth Dowling, Iva Croniser, and Mrs. Richard (Gladys) Lee, all of Boonville; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a grandson: John Bennett, Jr in 1995; three son-in-laws: John Bennett, Sr in 2006, Gerald Guntsch in 1994, and Douglas Shinkel in 2003; and two brothers: Kenneth in 1991 and Theodore in 1997. The funeral service for Mrs. Kent will be at 11 am Monday at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St., Boonville, with Rev. Robert B. Goodin, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Boonville, officiating. A Memorial Graveside Service will be in the spring at Bethel Cemetery, Remsen. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, James St., Boonville or to the Boonville Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 161, Boonville, NY 13309. Mrs. Kentï¿(TM)s family extends a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at St. Lukeï¿(TM)s Hospital and St. Elizabethï¿(TM)s Medical Center Special Care Unit.
