Barry W. Pfendler

August 23, 1957 — December 8, 2022

Boonville- Barry W. Pfendler, 65, of Echo Lake Road, husband, of Lori, passed away while surrounded by the loving care of his family, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Hospital, New Hartford, on Thursday, December 8, 2022.


Barry was born in Constableville, on August 23, 1957, a son of Bernard and Blanche Denslow Pfendler. He grew up in Boonville and graduated from Adirondack High School, with the Class of 1976. He was first employed at Boonville Division of Ethan Allen Furniture Co., followed by seventeen years of employment for Thims Construction Co. of Rome, a company which specialized in building salt storage domes throughout the United States.


On May 23, 1987, Barry was united in marriage with the love of his life, Lori Kolasa, at St. Joseph’s Church, Boonville.


In 1994, he began employment with David Stocklosa Contracting Company of Boonville, where he was a skilled carpenter and constructed and repaired many homes and structures throughout the North Country. He retired from the construction business in December, 2021 and will be remembered for his strong work ethic and high standards of carpentry.


Barry and Lori had recently purchased a home in South Daytona, Florida. At the present time they were greatly looking forward to spending time in Florida.


He possessed a life interest in snowmobile racing and he experienced his first races at the Winter Snow Festivals in Boonville, during the 1970’s. Later he went on to be a racer for Miracle Racing of Boonville. Barry was known far and wide as being the “racer who won many races,” including a New York State Championship Race at Lake Delta. Later, he became the chief mechanic for Miracle Racing, where he was instrumental in winning three consecutive Adirondack Cups at the Boonville Snow Festivals of 2012, 13 & 14.


Barry was loved and will be fondly remembered for his infectious laugh, sense of humor and ability to brighten the lives of those in his company. He was a life member of Boonville Elks Lodge # 2158. He loved life and spending time with his wife and family, along with camping at Cole’s Creek, on the St. Lawrence river at Waddington, NY and hunting with his sons and friends. In addition, he greatly enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys Football Team, Baltimore Orioles Baseball Team, Syracuse Basket Ball Team and NASCAR. He also enjoyed card playing and purchasing a wide variety of tickets and chances for the possibility of winning various prizes. He had great affection and love for his canine companions, Champ and Remmie.


In addition to his wife, Lori, Barry is survived by his mother, Blanche Pfendler, Boonville; two sons, Drew, with his companion, Sarah and her three children, MacKenzie, Mason and Dominic, Matthew and his wife Marissa and Barry’s precious grandson, Greyson; one sister, Tracy Liechty and her companion, Andy Manning, all of Boonville. He was predeceased by his father, Bernard, brother, David Pfendler and his mother in law and father in law, Audrey and Edward Kolasa.


Visitation hours will be Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 2-5 P.M., at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where services will begin at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, at the funeral home. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Boonville Fire Company Ambulance Fund, PO Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309, or to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY 13367.
