Barbara N. Rosenfield

Woodgate – Barbara N. Rosenfield, 83, widow of Paul, passed away on September 16, 2024, at Rome Memorial Hospital.


Barbara was born in Oneonta, NY, the daughter of Dan A. and Dorothy Wood Nickel. She grew up in Morrisville, NY, where she received her education graduating as a commended merit scholar from Morrisville-Eaton Central School with the Class of 1959. She continued her education at NYS University at Albany and NYS University at Geneseo, obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in English and Spanish education. She began her teaching career at Brighton Central School District, before her long term employment at McQuaid Jesuit High School, Rochester.


On June 24, 1968, Barbara was united in marriage with Paul I. Rosenfield in Rochester, NY. The couple resided in the Rochester area until their retirements in 2000, when they then moved to White Lake.


Throughout her life, Barbara was generous to the people in her life and found meaning in providing for others. She was a skilled seamstress, and made clothing for herself and her children. She was also very fond of her feline pets Michio and Chiyoko, who are now in the care of her children.


Barbara is survived by her son, Carl Rosenfield, daughter Diane Rosenfield, grandson Will Rosenfield, and her brother Daniel John Nickel.


A Memorial service will be held at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 11:00 am with Rev. Jack Ford officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Anita’s Steven-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, New York 13502.
