Barbara J. Moore, 62, of Thornton Ave., widow of Gordon, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Rome Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Barbara was born on February 2, 1945, in Boonville, a daughter of Florence Farr. Her younger life was spent in Port Leyden, where she attended school. In July 1962, Barbara was united in marriage with Gordon Moore, and after that the couple lived in Lyons Falls, later moving to Port Leyden. Her husband a furnace technician for Boonville Oil Co., passed away on March 1, 1969. In 1995 she moved to Boonville, where she since lived. For many years, Mrs. Moore was employed as a cook at the Gas Light Restaurant in Boonville, and at the OK Corral, Diner, in Remsen. In addition to her mother of Port Leyden, Barbara is survived by two sons and daughters in law: Richard and Anna Moore, Jeffrey and Nikki Moore, both of Boonville, and by three daughters and sons in law: Joylynn and Tom Bronson, Remsen, Patricia and Bill Campbell, Boonville, Debora and Rich Fitzsimmons, Remsen. She was predeceased by a son Edward Alan Moore, in 1969. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren, five brothers: Jesse, Karl, Edward, Edwin, all of Port Leyden, Arthur Farr, Brantingham, a foster brother. Mike Kohl, Remsen, four sisters: Josie Markum, Syracuse; Charlotte Rogers, Lowville; Carolyn Nagy, Arlene Fuller, Port Leyden, two foster sisters: Wanda Winn, Sauquoit, Marie Mooney, Port Leyden, three sisters in law: Helen, Boonville, Jo, Port Leyden, and Marion Kohl, Utica, Mrs. Moore was predeceased by her foster parents, Bessie and Niels Kohl, and several foster brothers and sisters predeceased her. . Also surviving are special friends: Dawn and Heather, and her family gratefully acknowledges the second floor staff at Rome Memorial Hospital for their excellent and compassionate care. Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Tuesday, at 7 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Mr. Paul Smith a Jehovah's Witness Minister will officiate. Interment will be in the New Covenant Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are Tuesday 3-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
