Arthur Scott Pfendler

July 1, 1940 — February 6, 2020

Remsen- Arthur Scott Pfendler, 79, husband of the late Helen, passed away at his residence, on Thursday, February 6, 2020. Arthur was born in Boonville, on July 1, 1940, a son of Arthur L. " Fritz" and Clara Clark Pfendler. He grew up in Forestport, where he graduated from high school. On June 25, 1960, Arthur married Helen Pauline Ingersoll, at the First Baptist Church of Boonville. In 1963, the couple settled on Kirkland Road, near Forestport, where they resided until 2000, when they moved to their present home near Remsen. From 1963, until his retirement in 2008, Mr. Pfendler was employed as a mechanic at Jew Sew of Barneveld. Mrs. Pfendler passed away on November 18, 2018. He greatly enjoyed playing golf and was on the Thursday Night Golf Team at Alder Creek Golf Course and Arthur also greatly enjoyed fishing with his brothers on Black Lake. Mr. Pfendler was a member of Boonville Lodge of Elks, # 2158. He is survived by one daughter, Royanne (Duke) Sprowell, Forestport and was predeceased by a son Wade S. Pfendler, on November 12, 2015. Also surviving are three grandsons; William, Dennis and Matthew Sprowell, seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Nila Gerling, Utica and Linda Wagner, Ocala, FLA; three brothers and two sisters in law, Russell (Janice) Pfendler, Jerry Pfendler, all of Boonville and Richard (Diane) Pfendler, Woodgate. He was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Schmelzle; a brother, Dale and by a brother and sister; Ronald and Jacqueline who both passed away in infancy. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at Forestport Presbyterian Church. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's / St. Patrick's Food Pantry, 9004 East River St. Forestport, NY 13338. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
